Specials was another heart wrenching journey for Tally and I. I applaud Scott for being so excellent at drawing his readers in. There is nothing better that a book that evokes emotion in it's reader. I think that this series is exponentially growing in popularity, and honestly, I don't see why it shouldn't! I absolutely thought that the Uglies series was wonderful, especially Specials; I can't wait to read Extras!
Specials drew me in because I can relate to a lot of the things Tally goes through.

Pretties: Scott Westerfeld
I thought that Pretties was a nice compliment to the first book, Uglies, in the trilogy. I felt that Tally, the main character, was more sarcastic in this book. She stood up for herself and didn't take any crap off of the authorities in her life. I actually gasped audibly a few times, knowing that Tally's dreams were being stolen away right before her eyes. Her plans and schemes were actually pretty humorous.
In the end, I really like this book and will definitely recommend the series to all of my friends.

Uglies: Scott Westerfeld
This book takes time to suck you in, but once you're engulfed by it you can't help but read the next book in the series. I thought that it was interesting because its like a parallel world only set sometime in the future. I saw some similarities in part of the plot that are current in our times right now.
The plot was really what drew me in personally. I found myself rooting for the main character, wanting for her what she wanted for herself. It's a very good book for adolescents like me because it talks about what it means to be "pretty" or "ugly". However, in a sense those words take on a different meaning in the plot.
